<h4>Background Information </h4> If you are a foreigner married to a Singaporean Citizen, you can work in any economic sector under a Work Permit (WP). You need not have a Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP) before being eligible for the WP. You will need to have secured a job with an employer, who will apply for the WP. However you cannot work in occupations such as bar/dance hostess or masseur. How does this scheme benefit spouses of Singaporean Citizens?Those with strong family ties like parents/ children need to have a valid LTSVP before being allowed to work under work permits. However foreign spouses of Singaporeans need not apply for a LTSVP with ICA, before being eligible for work permits. This would make it administratively easier for them to get a work permit. Can a Foreign Spouse work under an S Pass or Employment Pass instead of applying for a WP?   Yes, they can. However any application for an S Pass or Employment Pass would be assesed based on its own merits like salary, educational qualifications and experience. This is unlike the case of work permits, we would approve the application so long as the company has quota and it is not objectionablke occupation like bar/dance hostess or masseur. <div style="CLEAR: both; FONT-SIZE: 1px; LINE-HEIGHT: 1px; HEIGHT: 1px;"> </div><h4>Applying for Your Work Pass </h4> Applying for a Work Permit (WP)You prospective employer will need to submit the following additional documents when applying for your WP: <ul><li>A copy of the NRIC of  your spouse (the Singapore Citizen/Permanent Resident); and </li><li>A copy of your marriage certificate; </li></ul>
