<P>You're quite right to say that Singapore isn't quite the right place to practise English but I have to say for starters, they will definitely find Singapore English easier to understand than any native varieties. The English you hear in films is not easy to understand as there are lots of idiomatic expressions and non-standard forms. Honestly (please do not get offended), I'm quite surprised that you've used the form 'ain't' in you message. I do not know where you've learnt it - could it be from films ? But I have to say it's not usually used by educated speakers even in very informal context. Learners ought to know what it means when they see or hear it but they oughtn't use it. :-) </P>

Language learning is different from other disciplines, you need to discover how it's used, it's not a set of formulas you learn by heart and hope to apply them in apppropriate context, Find a style and a way that suit you, it's a lifelong endeavour. Good luck !
