Dr Lim Wee Kiak: To ask the Minister for Defence
(a) over the last five years how many males who become permanent residents under the sponsorship of their parents have served national service;
(b) of these, how many of them have taken up citizenship after completion of their national service; and
(c) how many males who become permanent residents under the sponsorship of their parents did not serve national service and chose to give up their citizenship instead.
Minister: Over the last five years, about 8,800 males who had become permanent residents under the sponsorship of their parents were enlisted for and served National Service (NS). About 6,100 of them have taken up citizenship. In that same period, about 4,200 males who had become permanent residents under the sponsorship of their parents renounced their PR status prior to serving national service. Their failure to serve NS will be taken into account when they subsequently apply to study or work in Singapore. These PRs were warned about the consequences of their action at the point of renunciation.

都说了，在服兵役前两年，也许可以退。拿到通知，可以肯定说就晚了。还意图做这种没意义的个人想法，晓林真不知道说啥。。。。

楼上的朋友，应该不是每个学校都允许延期的吧，要不然也就不会有那个王同学甘愿坐牢都逃兵役了。但无论如何都非常感谢您的回帖，我现在就是很闹心。

我感觉，仅仅是个人感觉应该是退PR  任何时间都可以的，退了以后就不是逃兵役，而是自动丧失了服兵役的资格 ...

本版有个科普贴，关于为了不服兵役要退PR的时间，你儿子的情况现在退确实晚了，目的性太强，他退了出国读书去别的国家工作确实没有影响。。。对你们，绝对的有影响，就是这样。。。可以考虑用一个词代表，连坐。。。这个之前也是有例子的。。。
不可能享受了之前的权利却不履行义务，又不用负任何责任。。。

靠父母申请的dpr，就算不考虑兵役，能随时退吗？要退也是全家一起退吧。
