According to a post on the official Facebook page of the United States embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the US’ seventh fleet has deployed the USS Pinckney P-3C to assist in search and rescue efforts of missing flight MH370.
The USS Pinckney is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, and is en route to the southern coast of Vietnam.
The statement said that the Pinckney was conducting training and maritime security operations in international waters of the South China Sea, adding that the ship carries two MH-60R helicopters which is equipped for search and rescue missions.
“A P-3C Orion aircraft will also depart shortly from Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan bringing long-range search, radar and communications capabilities to the efforts,” the statement read, adding that their thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by this tragic event.

俺在想, 飞行途中乘客手机关机的必要性。因为手机信号不会干扰飞机的通讯。如果乘客或机组人员的手机还开着, 会不会能收到外部打进的电话, 能不能帮助搜救组织搜索到失事地点。

@美利坚合众国驻华大使馆 称，凌晨2点43分美军驻扎在泰国乌塔堡军事基地曾监听到一段马来西亚航空公司MH370航班紧急呼叫的SOS信号，客机驾驶员呼叫称机舱面临解体，他们要迫降。目前驻泰美军已向马来西亚方面提供这段信号。

（联合早报网讯）人民网援引意大利安莎社最新消息，马来西亚航空公司失联的飞往北京的MH370航班名单中，今年37岁的意大利乘客Luigi Maraldi已经确认其不在飞机上。
意大利《共和国报》网站消息称，意大利外交部已经与这名意大利人取得联系，Luigi Marald也于意大利时间上午与家人通了电话，讲其现在泰国。
据报道称，意大利人Luigi Marald在2013年8月1日曾在泰国护照被偷，他曾回意大利办理了新的护照后重返泰国。目前有一种可能是有人用他丢失的护照登机。
