Creative unit's innovation used in 3M product

    Sept. 27 (Business Times) -- CREATIVE Technology's wholly
owned subsidiary ZiiLABS has announced that its ZMS StemCell
media processor and customised Android software is being used in
the new MP220 mobile projector by 3M Mobile Interactive Solutions
Division.
    3M's new product is a 65-lumen mobile projector with an
Android interface and smart application software for projecting
office documents, photos, video and music. It weighs 413 grammes.
    The ZMS processor was chosen for its flexible video
technology that enables the easy integration and support for 3M's
advanced light engine and video in and out requirements, ZiiLABS
said in a press release.
    "By combining our leadership position in flexible processors
and enhanced Android software with their light-engine and
projector experience, 3M has been able to introduce an innovative
projector that offers users a brighter, longer lasting and richer
media experience," said Hock Leow, president of ZiiLABS.
    ZiiLABS - which has offices in Singapore, the UK, China and
the US - is a media processor and platforms company. Formerly
known as 3DLABS, the company re-branded and joined the personal
digital entertainment group of Creative Technology to form
ZiiLABS in January 2009.
    "With the MP220 we needed a very capable and flexible
processor that could leverage the user familiarity and feature
set of Android but tailored to meet the demands of a projector,"
said Mark Colin, vice-president and general manager of 3M Mobile
Interactive Solutions Division.
    "The ZMS processor and the ZiiLABS software team delivered a
quality solution during every step of our journey."
    Shares in Creative closed at $3.05 yesterday, down three
cents.
