NTUC FairPrice stores to stay open throughout Chinese New Year

To provide customers with more convenience, 12 NTUC FairPrice stores will remain open throughout the Lunar New Year this year including the first day of the festivities on 23 January 2012. This is an increase from the three stores which stayed opened throughout the festivities last year. On the second day of the Lunar New Year, apart from the 12 stores, an additional 88 stores will be open and operate from stores' usual opening hours and close at 5pm. Mr Gerry Lee, Managing Director (Business Groups), NTUC FairPrice, said, "It has been a tradition for most shops to be closed on the eve and first day of the Lunar New Year. This can be inconvenient for some customers who want to make their grocery purchases. We received positive feedback from customers when we kept three stores opened on the first day of the Lunar New Year last year. So we decided to extend this initiative to 12 stores this year so that more customers can enjoy this convenience." On the eve of the Lunar New Year, all FairPrice outlets will open as usual and close at 5pm except for 10 24-hour FairPrice stores located across the island which will remain open throughout the festivities. These 10 stores are located at Jalan Tiga, Fernvale Point, Telok Blangah St 32, Clementi Ave 2, Teban Garden, Jurong West St. 41, Lengkong Tiga, Bukit Batok East Ave 3, Bishan St 24, and Tampines St 11. In addition to this, our store at Changi Airport Terminal 3 will remain open till 11pm. On the first day of the festivities (23 January), a total of 12 stores will remain open including the 10 24-hour stores stated above. The other two stores are Changi Airport Terminal 3 (7am to 11pm) and Scotts Square (8am to 5pm). All FairPrice stores will resume normal operating hours on the third day of Chinese New Year (25 January).
