SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Budget carrier Tiger Airways Holdings Ltd. (J7X.SG) on Wednesday said it reached an agreement with Airbus to speed up the delivery of four Airbus A320 aircraft to 2011 from 2016 as initially scheduled.

The carrier, 34.4% owned by Singapore Airlines Ltd. (C6L.SG), aims to increase its fleet size to 33 aircraft over the next two financial years and to 68 by December 2015. It currently has 18 Airbus A320-family aircraft, and one more will be delivered in February 2010.

The carrier had already accelerated the delivery of five new Airbus A320 aircraft to 2010 and early 2011 as opposed to the initial delivery dates in 2016.

The company said with these deliveries it would reach its fleet size target of 33 aircraft by the end of 2011.

"Following our strong operating numbers in the last quarter, we have further accelerated aircraft deliveries to take on the growth opportunities awaiting us in Asia and Australasia," Tiger Airways Chief Executive Tony Davis said in the statement.

Tiger, which operates in Singapore and Australia, concluded an initial public offering earlier this year that raised about S$247.7 million and some of the proceeds will be used for the planned purchase of Airbus A320 aircraft.
