楼主的建议不错。
对于Argumentative essay我来补充一下楼主说的。
Argumentative essay还有一点很重要的就是Counter point.
如果一直重复自己的arguments这样的essay是biased的，不会拿高分,最多只会PASS。
各大G-o-v-e-r-n-m-e-n-t school英文老师一直在强调的就是至少要有一个counter point.
例如
The building of Casinos has promoted gambling among people. Do you agree?
在这个题目中，至少要写一个跟你论点相反的argument，然后反驳那个argument.
例子：
Many may say that the Casinos built are meant to attract tourists to Singapore rather than providing Singaporeans the platform to gamble. However, in the past months, the number of tourists visiting the Casinos is comparable to the number of Permanent Residents and Singapore Citizens. Furthermore, the shuttle bus services to the neighborhoods, which by now has been suspended by the G-o-v-e-r-n-m-e-n-t, have inevitably encouraged Singaporeans to visit the Casinos. Hence, it is evident that the Casinos affects Singaporeans more rather than the tourists.
