WORK PERMIT CAN'T RENEW AFTER WORKING FOR 6YEARS NOW?

my friend has been working here for 6years, and his work permit will expire at the end of Oct.

Last week HR called his agent to discuss about his renew matter, but his agent inform that he can't renew now as he has worked here for 6years .If he want renew must got any ITE certificate.

We all pity him as his wife just come to accompany him .

We doubt that if there is any new law from MOM to limit the working period for WP holder like this?

My computer in office can only appear english, wellcome reply in mandarine, thanks!

- 政府没有改政策，"unskilled"工人最多能干6年。如果提升自己变成“skilled"工人，理论上可以干18年或干到60岁。参考http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/mo ... _you_can_renew.html

那么什么是“skilled"工人？
Who is Considered a Skilled Worker?

A skilled foreign worker is one who possesses at least a SPM qualification or its equivalent, or a NTC-3 (Practical) Trade Certificate [also known as ITE's Skills Evaluation Certificate (Level 1) from July 2002] that is relevant to the worker's occupation. [For PRC workers, they should have at least diploma qualifications to be considered as a skilled foreign worker, unless otherwise stated*.] 6月1日前，高中毕业就算是，现在改成大专了。

* For NAS/PRC workers who work in construction sector, the worker must possess at least an SEC/SEC(K) qualification in order to be considered as a skilled worker.

* For PRC workers, who work in the marine sector, the workers must possess at least a NTC-3 (Practical) Trade Certificate [also known as ITE's Skills Evaluation Certificate (Level 1) from July 2002] to be considered as a skilled worker.
